In a bid to improve condition of public sector hospitals, Punjab Minister for Primary and Secondary Health Kh. Imran Nazir along with Secretary Health Ali Jan Khan paid visits to nine hospitals of southern Punjab. While visiting Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Liaqatpur, the minister found packed costly medical equipment lying without installation for more than two years.

He took serious notice of the situation and immediately ordered to suspend Medial Superintendent Dr Nadim Zain. It was found that ventilators, ENT examination machine, ICU beds and incubators were kept packed and non-installed. Moreover, the patients also complained of purchasing medicines from the market.

The minister directed Deputy Commissioner Rahim Yar Khan to conduct an inquiry against the MS and submit report within 48 hours. The minister also visited Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Fort Abbas, Khairpur Tamewali, Mandi Yazman, Khanpur, Ahmedpur East, Manchanabad, Haroonabad and District Headquarters Hospital Bahawalnagar. On the best performance and good arrangements of cleanliness in THQ Hospital Fort Abbas, the Minister directed the Secretary Health to issue appreciation letter to the Medical Superintendent. Nazir issued warning letter to the Medical Superintendent THQ Hospital Khairpur Tamewali on the complaint of purchasing medicines from the market by the patients and poor cleanliness condition in the hospital.

The Minister also appreciated the administration of THQ Hospital Khanpur for satisfactory arrangements in the hospital and good hygienic condition. However, the Minister directed the MS to be careful in future as he did not install two incubators in pediatric ward.

Similarly, Kh. Imran Nazir warned Medical Superintendent of THQ Hospital Manchanabad for not providing medicines to the patients and directed him to return the amount to the patients for the medicines purchased from the market. The Minister directed the hospital administration to improve cleanliness and ensure free provision of medicines to the patients.
